Frequently Asked Questions
Is PassDrop free to use?
Yes. PassDrop is free to use with 3 downloads per day.
Premium is $6/month and adds unlimited downloads, pass attachments by email, and customized-pass downloads.
What types of content work with PassDrop?
PassDrop works with ticket emails, reservation confirmations, membership cards, PDF documents, screenshots, scanned documents, and photographed tickets.
For boarding passes, we need clear, straight-on photos with visible barcodes.
Can I customize the pass?
Yes. Premium subscribers can fully customize their passes, including fields, colors, labels, and barcode text, without the usual editing limits.
The feature is designed for people who want precise control, whether that means making small visual tweaks or refining every detail of the final pass.
If you want to see how it works before subscribing, you can open the pass editor demo and explore the editing experience with sample content.
How long does the process take?
Processing usually takes a few seconds once PassDrop receives your file or email. Signed-in uploads appear in My passes when ready.
Forwarded emails can take a little longer because delivery depends on your email provider and network conditions.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We process your data securely and follow strict privacy practices. Original files and email content are kept only as long as needed for processing and delivery.
We retain job metadata such as status, timestamps, and account linkage so My passes works reliably and our team can support the service. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Original files and emails are deleted after processing, while metadata helps My passes, support, and service reliability.
What if my pass generation fails?
If we can't create a usable pass, we'll show the reason in My passes so you can review the upload and try again with the original source if needed.
Keep your original ticket as a backup, especially for travel and event entry.
My passes keeps each upload in one place after processing, and if you need help you can reach us anytime at support@passdrop.app. You can also visit Contact to subscribe for product updates.
How do I use PassDrop?
PassDrop offers four easy ways to create or preview wallet passes:
- Email forwarding: Forward any email containing tickets or passes to make@passdrop.app
- File upload: Upload files directly through our website at passdrop.app
- iOS Shortcut: Use our shortcut for quicker on-device conversions
If you save a result to your account, it stays available in My passes. Premium can also send pass attachments by email.
Email forwarding is best for tickets already in your inbox, while file upload works well for documents, photos, and screenshots.
What barcode formats are supported?
Apple Wallet passes can only display QR Codes, Code 128, Aztec, and PDF417. If your original ticket uses another format, it will be converted to a QR Code, which might not be scannable.
Can I provide feedback on my experience?
Yes. After processing your files, open the upload in My passes and you can share feedback from there. Feedback is completely voluntary and can include ratings, comments, and suggestions.
Your feedback helps us improve pass quality, delivery, and reliability.
Are there any file size limits?
For email attachments, standard email limits apply, typically around 25MB. For file uploads through our website, we support larger files. If you need to process very large files, we recommend using the upload flow rather than email.
If the file is large, use the website upload flow instead of email attachments.
What are my rights regarding my data?
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can also object to processing of your data or request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@passdrop.app. We'll respond within 30 days.
Full details about your rights are available in our Privacy Policy.
Do you use any tracking or analytics?
We use Umami, a privacy-focused service that collects anonymous usage data such as page views, device types, and performance metrics without ad-tech tracking or third-party advertising cookies. For guest claim flows, we temporarily store a claim token in your browser's session storage.
We do not use third-party cookies or advertising tracking.
Do you support QR codes with binary data?
Most QR codes contain text data and work perfectly with PassDrop. However, QR codes with binary data cannot be processed correctly because our current extraction stack can only return text, not raw binary content.
QR codes with binary data are uncommon in normal ticket flows. Most codes you'll encounter contain text data, which works well with PassDrop.
This limitation is unavoidable for now, but we're working on a long-term solution.
Which third-party services do you use?
We use Vercel for frontend hosting, Umami for analytics, Cloudflare and ImprovMX for email processing, OpenAI for content analysis, and Mistral for OCR. Most services are EU-based except OpenAI in the US.
Most infrastructure is EU-based for better privacy protection.
